The Metabolism Plan – Day 5

Temperature: 97.7 (I think this is elevated because I am about to get my period)

Optimal BBT: 97 to 97.3

Functional BBT: 96.5 to 97.3

Above 97.3: Likely to exhibit more hyperthyroid symptoms, such as anxiety, irritability, sleeplessness, and racing heart.

Below 96.5: Likely to exhibit hypothyroid symptoms, such as lethargy, depression, constipation, and weight gain.

Weight: – 0.3 lbs

Water: 3.5 L

Sleep: 8 restless hours

Test Food: None

Test Exercise: 12 minutes of body weight exercises (squats, crunches, jumping jacks, lunges, push-ups mountain climbers)

Today my weight only dropped by a miniscule amount and I think that is due to me taking two Mersyndol last night because I had a wicked headache. Mersyndol is a combination of Tylenol, Codeine and a muscle relaxant of which two of the three were identified in the book to cause weight stability or gain. I did give extra strength Aspirin a try as suggested in the book but found it did nothing for headaches.

The good news? Goat cheese is a non-reactive food for me!

I had a really restless sleep again filled with nightmares and general anxiety. Each time I awoke from a nightmare I would think to myself that I really should write it down first thing in the morning so I could analyze it but alas both dreams were gone from my memory by the time I woke up.

I don’t even want to entertain the idea that this could be caused by my beloved coffee. [sweeps thought under rug]

Breakfast this morning was SO delicious! In addition to my precious [said in voice of Golem] coffee, I had a smoothie with a coconut milk base, blueberries, avocado, chia seeds and ice. I normally don’t care for creamy smoothies but this was super delicious and not heavy at all. I found that the chia seeds really helped keep me feeling full throughout the morning as well.

I don’t know if this is a cheat but in addition to my Nespresso this morning I also had a 12 oz decaf American Misto with foamed coconut milk at a meeting this morning, because the ‘Bucks is my weakness. Both are allowed on the Plan but not sure because I deviated from the exact meal plan for the day whether my results will be skewed. We shall see tomorrow morning.

Today’s lunch consisted of cream of broccoli soup with a salad of baby romaine; shredded beets, pumpkin seeds and lemon dill dressing. Because I ended up eating lunch so late I just piggy backed my afternoon snack of carrots and almond butter to make a hugely satisfying meal.

Ugh! I was super headachy again today too. I have taken Advil, which I know may skew today’s exercise test results but I also don’t want to end up with a migraine. I am wondering if these cluster headaches could be tied to my cycle? I track my migraines and headaches on separate apps and do the same with my period so it would be interesting to combine the two to see if there are any obvious patterns.

Dinner is more chicken, which I am 100% ok with, and sauteed zucchini and onions in a spicy apricot glaze on a bed of baby romaine with manchego cheese!

Last night’s dinner of zoodles in sunflower pesto was ah-mahzing. So filling yet light. Who knew? [read: everyone that has had access to a computer in the last ten years]

Tomorrow I am testing a new protein so think I will try lamb on the Parilla.
