Oh man. Yesterday was not as bad as Saturday but only marginally. I woke up to take my temperature, which was in the optimal range (yay!) and I was down 1.4 pounds despite taking two Mersyndol the night before. Score! I still had a dull headache reminiscent of dehydration brain pain but I knew it was just my body still reeling from no coffee. I felt really lethargic (what’s new?) and spent most of the day sleeping. I was sooooo grumpy too – my poor family!

To make matters worse I stubbed my toe on the concrete step to our front door and ripped a large flap of skin open. OMG searing, white pain; I thought I was going to barf for at least twenty minutes afterwards. Thankfully my daughter and husband bandaged me up and I hobbled off to bed to sleep…some more.

By the time five o’clock rolled around I thought I better get off the couch and make some more flax granola for the week and see about dinner seeing as I had skipped it the night before. On the menu? Sauteed kale with cocoa sauce, 1 cup of cooked basmati rice, shredded carrot and beet salad with sunflower seeds and steamed broccoli. Whenever I go on a diet my fear of scarcity comes out in full force, which triggers cravings and a feeling a deprivation. That has not been my experience with this diet so far; aside from the cravings from refined sugar withdrawal. This dinner was huge! I have never met a meal I questioned whether or not I could finish and this was definitely one. By the time I had finished I was so stuffed but not in that gross, rock-in-my-stomach, my-solar-plexus-feels-like-it-might-explode kind of feeling. It was novel to say the least.

Looking forward to being completely out of the caffeine withdrawal fog tomorrow!
